Uniquely Me

Painting is often similar to living.  It is about experimentation, shading, stepping out of your comfort zone, and finding your way.  Its about realizing who you are, and what do do with that knowledge.  In short, it is finding your authentic self, and expressing it.

Life itself is a gift, but within that gift we each have our own unique talents. Sometimes your talents emerge early on in life, sometimes life hones them and surprises you with them.  Either way, they make up the core of who you are.

Society has a way of deafening us, conforming our uniqueness instead of celebrating our differences.  Ironically its in those differences where we are truly alike, truly ourselves.

As in most things of importance, the art of staying true is a fine line, as you get caught up in the swirls of grey.  Black and white rarely exist, and it is in the dance of the shading of both wherein beauty and in fact, truth, lies.  But amidst that chaos of shades is often where your true self shines.  It is also often where, in my opinion, the true essence of a painting is found.

In all things, to thine own self be true.
