Oh Christmas Tree...

While singing Christmas Carols, decked in our Santa hats and drinking some mulled cider, the Christmas tree is finally up :) And dressed with all of our homemade ornaments. Gosh, I love this time of year ...

As we dressed the tree, I was struck how much I cherish some age old traditions, and some of our own. They give us consistency and something to look forward to. They make a special time, that much more so and provide us a link to the past, while providing us with memories that will last a lifetime.

Family traditions give every member of the family a stronger sense of belonging. Being a part of a family is more than living in the same home, it's about relationships and family bonds.

What Christmas traditions do you uphold?

Every year we put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving, we go tour the Holiday light show here in San Diego, we have a Christmas Eve party every year, we spend time sitting down with the kids reading stories and playing games by the tree light each night and we sit down every year and explain to them what Christmas is really about. You are right it creates strong bonds. The kids look forward to games and stories by the tree every night and dont want to go to bed without that time. Thanks for liking my Oprah campaign and Merry Christmas.
