Stargazers

Sometimes when I can't sleep, I find myself looking up at my ceiling. At the stars. I bought myself those stick on glow in the dark ones, but note to self- must buy more to fill up my ceiling :)

Looking up at my sky, I feel one with the universe, and part of something of a much larger scale. It reminds me that the silly little things really don't matter. You know, not to sweat the small stuff. Details.

I am a star gazer, quite partial to Cassiopeia, myself :) A very special friend showed me where this was, and to this day, when I look up to the sky an find that "W" - it reminds me of him...

I do wish on shooting stars, and they make me smile, and am quite a bit of awe of them in general...being so far away and such - and shiny :) And can't forget all the twinkly like goodness I see when looking up at the real night sky. I am fortunate where I am to see them most nights, as I am a night owl, I look to the midnight sky quite regularly.  SO on top of being a vampire (little night humour) I am also a stargazer.

How about you, do you look to the stars?

Absolutely! My best friend and I use to drive out into the country just to look at the stars and spend time talking. I had glowing stars on my ceiling in college for a while, too.

I love looking up at the stars and when I was younger used to go to a stargazing group with my dad. My favourite is the seven sisters - I love trying to see how many I can see (I saw 13 on a good night) but it's called 7 sisters as that is the number usually visible to the naked eye.

I so am, in fact one of my wishes is to install a skylight in my bedroom to view the awesome Hawaiian stars. In Hawaiian star is "hoku" long o short u.....being voyagers, the stars always hold a special place in our culture.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Star Gazing. I used to know so many constellations. I've gotten a little bit out of practice of actually looking for identifying too much although I know all the major ones. I love just gazing though. I too just think and think about the vastness of it all. It does put things in perspective and it really makes me think about just HOW MUCH WE DON"T KNOW. When you think that the light from that star you're looking at left the star billions of years ago it just is mind boggling. A few weeks ago I was at the drive-in where they have a four feature thing that goes until 4am. The stars and especially the Milky Way were incredible that night and my husband and I were just sitting on our car looking up. Sometimes I get these silly thoughts that maybe there is an alternate universe with another "me" somewhere thinking similar thoughts. Am I weird or what. Ok.. its 1am and I should be in bed. Lots of love! Thanks for the post.

Oh, I would totally love a skylight!!!! Thank you for sharing about your culture. I find that looking up at the sky, I feel united, as everyone stares up at the same stars...

WOW, 13, that is pretty cool - now I am gonna be trying to beat that, LOL!!!!

Don't they totally rock. Although sometimes I would catch myself as I would have trouble falling asleep, as my eyes would always end up open in order to gaze at "my stars" LOL!!!

I love looking at the stars...especially out in the country where my husband's family lives. No city lights or anything to not see everything in the sky at that moment. I love it. So beautiful. I am considering now getting some stars for my ceiling :)

Oh yes, most definitely do it - well worth the few $$$ spent :)

Eleven years after moving to the country where there is no artificial light from anywhere behind our house, looking up at the night sky on a clear night still leave me breathless. Some things are just too awe-inspiring to ever lose their effect.
