All You Glorious Mothers…
Being a mom means more than one can put in a Mother’s Day card. It means endless pain just giving you life, months feeding you from the two things you never imagined to be be tortured in such a way, it means getting up at all hours of the night just making sure you are breathing and safe, it means tidying up your mess in what seems to be on a hourly basis, it means forever eating food cold, it means cleaning your puke and your snotty noses — no matter what time, day or how sick we ourselves feel, it means forever worrying about you and the decisions we make for you. But most importantly being a mom means we get the privilege to have borne and nurtured you, the privilege to have a connection with you that lasts so much longer and is so much stronger than the umbilical chord. The privilege to watch you grow up and become the person you were meant to be. It means we have this little bundle of joy (no matter how big you get) that can melt our hearts with one little kiss or a hug. Being a mom means forever walking with your heart outside of your body.
It is the best, hardest, and most rewarding job I have ever done. Happy Mothers Day everyone.
